Curators at The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation have joined forces with US paint giant Benjamin Moore to launch The Williamsburg Color Collection. Featuring 144 historically accurate 18th and 19th century colors, the Foundation’s historians and conservators referenced historic documents, paint samples, wallpaper and architectural fragments. Research stretched beyond the confines of Colonial Williamsburg to include the other colonies, the Caribbean and Europe of the time period.

The process revealed unexpected color findings – particularly in terms of complexity and vibrancy.  Analyzing the pigment compositions with the latest technology enabled Benjamin Moore to precisely match the hues in a modern product. Like a fine wine, the resulting palette is richly layered with earthy undertones.

Although 250 years old, the collection is anticipated to elicit contemporary appeal and is being marketed with a ‘trend meets tradition’ theme. “Through our shared passion for authenticity and discovery, we have created a timeless palette that fuses history with contemporary design”, said Carl Minchew, Benjamin Moore’s Vice President of Color Innovation and Design.

      Dear Corry,

Unfortunately, Benjamin Moore paint is only available in the US and Canada. I checked their website and they currently do not ship internationally. I updated my posting to indicate Benjamin Moore is a US-based company for clarification. Farrow & Ball may be a good alternative for you http://www.farrow-ball.com/
